I have been asked by a number of folks as to why this site was made. At the risk of sounding self serving, I feel obliged to explain.

In a nutshell: It's all about Hemmat....

  • The act of making an effort, not because you have to, but because you want to.
  • The act of taking the initiative, not because you have the time, because you make the time.
  • The act of planting the seed, even though you might not be around to enjoy the fruit.

Alborzis in general, myself included, are certified workaholics. But as busy as we all are, some things are just too important to let go of. That's when a little Hemmat goes a long way.

Many of us Alborzis (and Iranians at large) have a home away from home. We are surely melting away into the cultures that we live in. It takes effort, and not a small one at that, to keep a sense of community. Unless people deliberately attempt to keep their culture and old friendships alive, the community will transform to a group of individuals with a common past.

It is with this thought that the "Alborz Web Site" was created. Alborz and Iran will always be a part of us (otherwise we would not be here viewing this site). I would love to see this common past become the common bond to make us a community.

This Web site is an effort to keep the community alive. It is a "Patogh" for soliciting peer opinions, it is nostalgic for putting that smile on your face and most importantly it is a platform for you to put in your own "Hemmat" by adding to this site, organizing your own class reunions, and finding your long lost friends.

I truly hope you enjoy this site.
